EXCAVATION / GRADING / BASE PREPARATION

Excavation, grading and site prep. The work you never see.

Pavement is only as good as the ground underneath it. Our team excavates, grades and builds the base so new asphalt and concrete have something solid to sit on.

01 / BELOW THE SURFACE

Most paving failures start in the ground.

When a new lot ruts, cracks or holds water within a few years, the cause is often below the asphalt: soft subgrade, thin or poorly compacted base, or grades that send water to the wrong place. Site work done right is the difference between pavement that lasts and pavement that has to be redone.

Our team handles the earthwork that comes before paving: clearing, excavation, grading, base installation and compaction, and stabilizing soft ground.

02 / WHAT’S INCLUDED

What our team handles.

Every proposal is written for the property. Typical scope items include:

Clearing and excavation

Clearing the site and excavating to the grades the pavement needs.

Grading and slope correction

Setting grades so water drains away from buildings and off the pavement.

Base installation and compaction

Placing and compacting base material in lifts.

Subgrade stabilization

Addressing soft or wet ground before base and pavement go down.

Access roads and entries

Preparing entrances, haul routes and access roads.

Rough and fine grading

Leveling the site for pads, parking areas and roads.

03 / GULF COAST CONDITIONS

Soft soils and water are the starting point.

Low, wet ground is common across Southeast Louisiana and the Gulf Coast, and soft subgrade is one of the most common reasons pavement fails early. Heavy rain can stop earthwork for days. Our team plans site work around the weather and checks the ground before building on it, rather than paving over a problem.

Our team brings a combination of 50+ years of experience to that planning.

04 / THE PROCESS

How the work moves.

01

Review the site.

Existing grades, soils you know about, drainage and any plans.

02

Set the scope.

A written proposal for excavation, base and grading.

03

Build the base.

Excavate, stabilize, place and compact base in lifts.

04

Hand off to paving.

Check grades and move straight into asphalt or concrete.

05 / WHO IT’S FOR

Built for managed properties.

Helping property managers with thousands of properties across the Gulf Coast.

New construction

Commercial lots and pads where site work and paving are planned together.

Reconstruction

Old lots where the base has failed and has to be rebuilt.

General contractors and developers

Site prep and paving on one scope.

BEFORE THE WORK

Clear answers.
A defined scope.

Do you do site work without paving?

Our team does site work mainly as part of paving and concrete projects, so the ground and the pavement are planned together.

Do we need a geotechnical report?

For larger new construction, the owner or engineer often has one. Our team works from it when it exists and will tell you if we think one is needed.

What happens if the ground is soft?

Soft areas are removed or stabilized before base goes down. Our team explains the options and costs before that work starts.

Can site work be done in the rainy season?

Yes, with planning. Rain can delay earthwork, so schedules have some flexibility built in.

Can site prep and paving be one contract?

Yes. When our team prepares the ground and paves it, one team is responsible for the grades and the base under the finished surface. That keeps questions about who owns the result simple.

What should we send first?

The address, any site plans or surveys, and what you plan to build or pave. Photos of current conditions help our team plan the walkthrough.

START WITH THE PROPERTY

Put the right plan
under your pavement.

Tell our team about the property. Photos, an approximate size and your timing help us define the work.

  1. 01
Share the property. Address, property type and what needs to change.
  2. 02
Review the conditions. Our team reviews access, pavement condition, drainage and use.
  3. 03
Define the scope. A clear written proposal with preparation, materials and work limits.
